The sunrise chased us
Halfway around the world
The darkness almost absolute, though
The lights of distant cities
Shimmered like candle flames in a breeze,
Flickering through the scattering of clouds
Beneath us.
The face of our sun
Never reared itself
And instead I was greeted
With all the hues of a vibrant rainbow
Stretching across a curved black horizon
Twinkling stars
Playful alongside
The Big Dipper
My constant companion.
